2025 Legislative Session

2025 Legislative Session

Florida’s premier conservation and recreation land acquisition program, Florida Forever, is under attack. We need your help to make sure it stays funded in this year’s budget.

Conserving natural lands is one of the best ways we can protect Florida’s waters and wildlife. That’s why we need the Florida Legislature to continue investing in Florida Forever. Unfortunately, the Florida House has proposed DEFUNDING Florida Forever.

While the Senate and House conference committees came to an agreement on many issues, funding for Florida Forever is still left undecided as the negotiations and decisions now get bumped up to the Senate and House budget chairs: Senator Hooper and Representative McClure.

We’re calling on Senator Hooper and Representative McClure to adopt the Senate position to continue funding Florida Forever because:

  • Florida Forever is a responsible use of taxpayer dollars and a cost effective solution to protect and restore our water resources including Florida’s iconic springs and rivers.

  • Taxpayer dollars are directed to those lands that scientists have prioritized as making the biggest impact on conservation.

  • It’s proven to work. Florida Forever has protected over one million acres of land across the state, with benefits to wildlife and water quality.

  • It's voter-supported. Nearly 75% of Florida voters approved a constitutional amendment to fund land and water conservation—including programs like Florida Forever. It was one of the most widely supported ballot initiatives in state history.

  • DEP is currently working to close more than $240 million in critical land acquisition projects.
