2025 Legislative Session

2025 Legislative Session

Do you value conservation and want to see your taxpayer dollars go toward land acquisition and water quality improvement projects? Voice your support for conservation funding in the 2025-2026 Florida Budget!

After a month-long hiatus during the (extended) 2025 Legislative Session, the Florida Legislature is convening this week for a rushed budget negotiation process with the hope to pass a budget by June 16. This is our last opportunity to share our budget requests and let our legislators know we do not support the state cutting conservation funding. We must call on our elected representatives to guarantee funding for springs restoration and land conservation. Take action with us to secure funding for wild Florida - Send an email to the budget conferees requesting they save Florida Forever, increase funding for springs restoration, and guarantee funding for conservation programs through the Seminole Gaming Compact.

  • Increasing Springs Restoration Funding: Springs typically receive only $50 million per year, but as water quality and flow in Florida’s springs continues to decline, we need to increase funding for springs restoration.

  • Funding Florida ForeverWith increasing pressure from development, we cannot afford to defund Florida’s premier land acquisition program. Conserving natural lands is the best way to protect Florida’s wildlife and waters.

  • Maintaining Gaming Compact funding for critical conservation programsIn 2024, the Florida Legislature unanimously passed a bill allocating funds from the Seminole Gaming Compact to the water quality improvement grant program and land conservation projects within the Florida Wildlife Corridor. This year, the Legislature is wanting to renege on its commitment to conservation and repeal the allocation of the gaming compact funds meant for environmental purposes.

The state budget is the one bill that the Florida Legislature is required to pass each year. It is the clearest statement of the Legislature’s priorities and values. Floridians have made it loud and clear they value public lands and support conservation, and we ask that our legislators reflect that shared value for conservation in the budget.
