Speak up again for Florida’s state parks - Amend SB 80: State Land Management (Harrell) and HB 209: State Land Management (Snyder)
Last year we saw unprecedented support for Florida’s state parks after news broke of proposals to develop nine state parks into golf courses, hotels, pickleball courts and more. We are thankful that Senators Harrell and Bradley and Representative Snyder have filed legislation (SB 80/HB 209: State Land Management) to protect Florida State Parks from future development. However, loopholes and vague language in the current version of the bill could still allow harmful development, and we must tighten these bills to be as protective as possible to prevent future development of our state parks.
To be truly protective of Florida State Parks, we’re asking lawmakers to amend and strengthen SB 80 and HB 209 to ensure our state parks are managed to preserve natural lands and prohibit development and activities that disrupt wildlife and ecosystems.
